| 요약2 | Wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) have long been perceived as undesirable due to odor and visual impact. However, they have recently created positive value for local communities and fostered cooperation with residents. This study examines residents’ perceptions of WWTPs, sources of nuisance, and preferred facilities for mixed-use development, aiming to ease conflicts over environmental infrastructure and enhance community benefits. A survey of 200 residents near four WWTPs found odor to be the most significant nuisance, with impact varying by proximity. Many residents acknowledged the necessity of WWTPs but emphasized the need for improvements. They preferred mixed-use developments centered on recreational and cultural facilities and showed high acceptance of upper-level housing and public kindergartens. Effective development requires odor control, addressing resident demands, supplying housing for younger demographics, and introducing public kindergartens, alongside stronger resident participation and feedback mechanisms. |
