| 요약2 | This study delves into the functions and roles of Privately-Owned Public Spaces (POPS) as public spaces that transcend mere spatial provision, focusing on their capacity to generate social value and enhance public benefits. It systematically examines their impact on urban structures and public services. By reviewing 50 academic papers published since 2000, the study identifies key topics, functions, and roles of POPS and evaluates seven types of facilities: atriums, courtyards, squares, plazas, pocket parks, arcades, and rooftops. The findings reveal that urban public space functions are the most discussed topic, followed by institutions, policies, spatial characteristics, and governance. POPS exhibit positive effects in terms of user convenience, public space provision, publicness, and management efficiency but face criticism for restricted access and inadequate promotion. To address these challenges, it is essential to integrate locally relevant POPS features into planning stages and expand their conceptualization as public spaces. |
