| 요약2 | The Innovation City development project, aimed at achieving balanced national development, was initiated to address the concentration of population in the Seoul Metropolitan Area (SMA) and the decline of small and medium-sized cities. This study analyzes the inflow effects of total and youth populations from SMA, non-SMA, and adjacent cities to Innovation Cities established in smaller cities. The results confirm that the project contributed to the dispersion of the metropolitan population, with a significant impact observed from adjacent cities. Furthermore, well-established living infrastructure correlates positively with the influx from the metropolitan area. However, growth in per capita GRDP or fiscal self-reliance does not guarantee population inflow, suggesting that various factors beyond economic considerations must be taken into account. Therefore, when establishing anchor cities like Innovation Cities, it is essential to formulate policies that minimize negative impacts on adjacent cities and promote the settlement of youth populations by developing effective infrastructure. |
