| 요약2 | This study explored the associations between perceived transportation accessibilityand hospital visits of the elderly people in South Korea. This study employed theweighted negative binomial regression model using a survey data collected fromKorea Institute for Health and Social Affairs. The key findings were as follows. First, the lower the perceived accessibility to hospitals or public transportation, thelower the frequency of hospital visits. Second, the elderly who found it challengingto walk 400m showed fewer visits to hospitals. Third, the elderly who did not haveaccess to a means of transportation has a lower rate of utilization of the healthcarefacilities, compared to others. Fourth, the use of hospitals was significantly higherwhen the elderly who received assistance to use public transportation or vehicles. This study contributed to (1) pointing out the importance of transportation aspectsin the healthcare utilization of the elderly people, (2) examining barriers to visitinghospitals of transport disadvantages, and (3) providing policy implications. |
