This article is based on the theory of semiotics, apply the theories and methods of semiotics to analyze interior environment art designs. Designing sings that are not only rooted in history, but also connected with the rapidly developing society, new functions, new materials, and new technology all require new interpretation of traditional symbols. From traditional elements and symbolism, using designs to ingeniously extract signs and symbols that are in accordance with modern aesthetic standards, or to intentionally revise the common combinations among traditional or contemporary signs, to make the resulting semantics succinct yet rich in content, the designs traditional yet still fashionable, and use them in contemporary interior environment designs, these are brand new designs with individuality and humanity, they assure the environment to both maintain the continuation of the tradition and to meet the needs of the new era. Additionally, this article shall via the analysis of the signifier and the signified of the signs to elaborate the motive of interior environment designs: the differentiation of signs, to reveal the roles and functions of interior environment design signs in modern consumer society, and to hopefully provide some insights and inspirations to the current interior environment design thinking. |
