Creativity and visualization are two vital aspects in the design process. The current study aims to specifically investigate relationships between these two qualities in the conceptualization process in order to provide a better understanding in producing creative design concepts. To collect data, this research employs a case study method that also includes observations, interviews, and retrospective protocol analysis. Six out of 25 junior interior design students were selected as having the most creative concepts by their instructors to be the cases. Study results strongly endorse correlation between creativity and visualization. Both internal and external visualization provide positive impacts on students' design-problem solving skills and creativity in the conceptualization phase of the design process. |
