This research aims to reveal the spatial configurations in Children's homes, and to clarify the characteristics of Unit care system facilities. Statistical analysis and questionnaire survey were done and the following results are obtained: (1) The facilities of Children's homes are classified into Unit care system facilities and Conventional large-type care facilities. (2) Each life-unit of "installed L/D/K(Living/Dining/Homelike Kitchen), Bathroom, and small number capacity" as element of "Unit care system facilities" are defined. (3) The Quality of space depends on the design criterions of the care units that should be the same in both, larhe capacity and small capacity care units. Therefore, the equipment maintenance remains necessary. (4) Field is an important concept in Children's homes. Finally, this study suggests the importance of residents' freedom in equipment selection and recommends future researches about better human relationships between child care workers and residents in Unit care system facilities. |
