It is a well-known fact that environment has a direct or indirect effect on everything in the world where man exists and develops. Environment involves dwelling environment, humanistic environment, natural environment, etc. Traditional culture, regional culture, modern culture and western culture discussed in the paper fall into humanistic environment. As for a region, there is a close relationship between humanistic environment and natural environment, namely, natural environment remains the basis for humanistic environment. In any region, people’s life and production are featured by the natural environment. As a part of ideology, humanistic environment is a form of concept and the carrier of civilization and exists in people’s spiritual life and material life in cities, originated in consciousness of the people awakened in the industrial society, so it has a close relationship with interior design. In retrospect to the traditional regional cultures in China and their effect on interior design, the paper explains how the primes of the regional cultures in China shall be preserved and developed in the face of western culture and explores how the Chinese characteristic regional cultures can be combined with interior design for the purpose of promoting the development and continuation of regional cultures. |
