Under the call of the National Development and Reform Commission of China to study and formulate a new decade to promote the rise of the central region of China, many cities including my hometown Anqing, have begun urban reconstruction, shantytown development and reconstruction. Reuse of historical and cultural areas, public welfare activities with local cultural characteristics and commercial facilities started in 2015. Most of them were reconstructed or repaired according to the original traditional style, so in essence, they are still the old style, so that the new generation of citizens can not find a sense of belonging, because of the lack of organic integration with the current state of life. Some reconstruction combines the cultural characteristics of other places, trying to find innovations and breakthroughs, but those are the wishful thinking of foreign designers, because they only understand some simple things, just integrating some foreign elements into the local space, but couldn't find the common part with the local residents. This will eventually become a deformed product that is neither of a designer nor of a citizen. So most of the designs and constructions are now temporary. Whenever I see government finances used to build such space, I am suffering because I know that it does not belong to us, but no one has a better way, and I just want to find through the study of the Hui-style architecture. |
