요약2 Due to the rapid demographic changes in Korea, the demand for public rental housing is likely to apply to the young adults and middle-class. It is necessary to overcome the typical negative image of the current public rental housing as well as reduce housing cost including maintenance cost. Sustainable design can overcome the negative image and reduce the housing fee. For this purpose, this study analyzed the case of 'LEED' certification, which is an economic and sustainable design characteristic while enhancing the quality of the house to find out key elements of sustainable rental housing. In ‘LEED 'homepage of the 'USGBC', cases are searched as' affordable', reviewed and classified as the first cases. Among these, final 4 cases were selected for analysis because relatively detailed certification application items were presented or scores by certification items were disclosed. In the affordable housing, location and transportation, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources are important as items that improve the economy including the quality and sustainability of housing. Location and transportation can be classified as location of work or neighborhoods and accessibility of public transportation. In the energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, environmental characteristics enhance sustainability as well as efficiency and economy.
