The purpose of this study is to suggest cafe-type automobile exhibition centers' effective directivity as the third space for making consumers watch cars naturally. The concept and space organization of automobile exhibition centers and the third space will be examined based on the review of the literature. The necessity of 'the third space' in the automobile exhibition centers will be checked by analyzing the automobile consumption trends of the 21st century according to industrial change and the characteristics of 'the third space' will be analyzed to make consumers watch cars naturally in cafe type automobile exhibition centers. A survey will be conducted targeting users of the target areas after making out a questionnaire through the checklists extracted based on the analysis. The target areas of cases are 4 cafe type automobile exhibition centers opened in Korea since 2014. The study can be found that the application of the characteristics of 'the third place' to cafe type automobile exhibition centers is important. The analytical results are as follow: First, the factors that aroused consumers' interest are requisitely required to make them watch cars naturally in cafe type automobile exhibition centers. Second, unique experiences that can make an exchange with others should be provided to raise their interest in brands through cafe type automobile exhibition centers. Third, brands' own spatial concept and atmosphere are required for cafe automobile exhibition centers as 'the third place'. In the next futures, studies on the spatial characteristics for cafe type automobile exhibition centers and consumer satisfaction with them are required. |
