요약2 Seoul is a central place of transportation, administration, economy and culture, and notably, it is proud of a high visit rate of foreigners thanks to lots of tourism culture elements, such as museums, exhibition centers, national treasures, historic relics, memorial halls, performing places, and conventional markets, etc.; thus, there exist lodging facilities and diverse hotels in connection with such cultural elements in Seoul. The large-size hotels existing in Seoul are managed mostly through the Western style and system, whereas Hanok hotels are managed actually in the form of a boutique-style hotel, or a guesthouse by transforming traditional private houses, or an old housing complex, showing a big difference in facility size, or services in comparison with general hotels. Particularly, there exists a hotel which is decked with Korean ornamentation and shapes in interior space, but it's so rare to find a Hanok hotel built in complex consideration of landscaping, feng shui(geomancy), natural environment and traditional buildings in downtown Seoul. Authentic "Korean Space" means the place where architecture and a person become one against a backdrop of excellent natural environment, and this study got to focus attention on "Traditional Culture & Art Complex-Samcheonggak" located at original downtown Seoul as a place which meets such environmental needs. Generally, Samcheonggak is regarded as the most Korean place which simultaneously meets external environmental elements(mountain, valley and tree) and architectural elements; hereupon, this study is intending to propose space planning for a Hanok hotel differentiated from the existing Hanok hotels by extracting diverse Korean elements of expression on the basis of (the attributes of) a traditional building and natural environment of Samcheonggak, and by applying such elements to interior space.
