Nowadays travelling among cities has been convenient due to the development of the means of transportation and rapid industrial changes. These global changes bring development of international business to tourism and other sectors such as finance, auto industry, architecture, accommodation, medical service and has offered the chances for mutual growth among countries. Rapid growth in transportation enables each country to provide and receive various clothes, abundant food supply, and comfortable housing. In addition to this, the development of the western style of architecture has brought many foreign franchise hotels in Korea. Existing famous franchise hotel designs are based on the western architecture and generalized and standardized, which can be seen any major cities in the world. Therefore, there have been a need for reflecting Korean design and values in franchise hotel designs without following the paradigm of western franchise hotel designs, which has developed excessively last few centuries. This study suggests a design in order to secure the competitiveness of domestic franchise hotels by applying Korean style design to communal space, maximizing it and avoiding the overused designs in foreign franchise hotels, which occupies majority of the foreign and domestic hotels. This study illustrates the Korean beauty in communal space of differentiated franchise hotels which will be introduced to the world by suggesting Korean style design in franchise hotels. |
