The role of individual science museums gets important for the construction of the society centering on the science and technology. Most of all, National Science Museum, which is representative of all science museums, is required to lead the science museums located across the nation in terms of role model, display of scientific data, education and R&D activities. But as 20 years have passed since its foundation, National Science Museum need the modernization as its exhibition halls and display facilities get old and obsolete and the space efficiency of them gets lowered. So, National Science Museum is making efforts in establishing the mid- and long-term development plan, define its role as the central national science museum and lead people to the world of science. This study is to check the current situation of facilities at National Science Museum, analyze its layout scenario and then find out what the future museum should be according to the modernization method through renovation in "Mid- and Long Term Development Plan for National Science Museum". It is to suggest the sequence of installation of facilities and the layout of facilities according to "Mid and Long Term Development Plan for National Science Museum, taking into account the current situation of exhibition halls and also provide data for establishing the plan for modernization of National Science Museum. |
