The light, for human beings, has non-material nature and an influence on human life from every direction, with its own meaning. The shadow which is created by the light is also perceived visibly by shading, forming a close relationship to a substantial aspect, changing mood and setting the meaning of space. The light and the shadow present varied characteristics of expression for interior space and show us distinctive quality and difference between each space, with the spatial language translated. The characteristics shown through the process are being delivered as esthetic value, further enriching human access to the space. This study is analyzing expressive quality of the light and the shadow presented in the interior space, understanding esthetic value and interrelation, and substituting for works of Peter Zumthor who attempted general access of the light in modern architecture. Based on the analysis, this is aimed at interpreting the meaning of expressive quality of the light and the shadow indoor space and being a ground for spatial composition. |
