This paper describes the characteristics of borderness dismantling of contemporary architecture and the design of underground space of university campus. Today, the contemporary society changes into that of fast fluctuation and multiplication due to the development and convergence of the various fields, and its institutional, conscious source and shape get diversified as well. And, as the extension and coexistence of them are realized, it is not regarded that the single value is absolute. The interdependence between different functions in kind gets more required as such phenomenon influences on the modern architecture and it appears as irregular and unhierarchical space going beyond the existing fixed relation. It performs the function as the integrated space not performing the fragmentation into mutually-subsumptive space that contains diversified society. The characteristics of borderness dismantling was grasped with the complexity, uncertainty, interaction, multicentric nature and continuity of modern architecture that appear due to such tendency and the characteristics of borderness dismantling was taken as the phased study that suggests it as the basic tool of future space plan of underground university campus by extracting the relation with the design of underground university campus and expressional characteristic through the cases based on the fact that the necessity of underground university campus is highlighted as the solution for insufficient space due to the increase of students and diversification of accepting space by the university administrations currently. |
