요약2 This study was conducted to study the media-facade design characteristics as a medium, which builds the exclusive identity of the city by raising and improving the value of the urban environmental quality based on the lights plan of arranging the imprudent lights, plays a role of promotion providing and sharing the information, and interacting from the building envelopes, The design characteristics by elements possessed by the media-facade were identified and analyzed from the landmark buildings out of the buildings built and remodeled from 2001 to 2010 in Seoul. For an analysis method, the concept, definition, type and elements of the media-facade were studied as theoretical study, and the case study was conducted by visiting subject buildings applied with the media-facade. The contents studied were analyzed with physical, technical, environmental elements, and contents of the media-facade. As a result, the change in the building envelopes were expressed based on the information obtained the changes in the sounds, movements and climate, etc using the sonsors which can detect the physical environments, and the diverse changes in the building envelopes was induced based on the information by detecting the users' behaviors not the urban environmental factors. It provided diverse information and contents, marketing measures and interfaces for corporate images and promotion the for the buildings or public facilities such as public and private office facilities. In addition, it made possible for the buildings to play the role of landmark in the urban space of providing visual aesthetics and diverse information by actively utilizing the building envelopes expressed with the shapes of the structures and images based on the technologies applied with interactive environment.
