In today's society, as the number of dual-earner couples increase, the parents tend to have less time to spend with their children. So, Kidscafe, 'one of theme cafes' becomes an excellent alternative for those parents. Kidscafe is recognized as a good place where parents can enjoy leisure and culture with their children and it is on a uptrend since 2000. Thus, this study aims to prepare the base data for the studies on the spatial improvement of Kidscafes in the future through the analysis of interior space by dividing the cases at 5 places built after 2007 by type. With respect to the approach for the study, the framework for analysis was made by the configuration of Kidscafe types and the interior design factors, and then, the expressional characteristics of interior space were analyzed, and the results were synthesized and analyzed by type. As a result, Kidscafes vary in its interior spatial configuration according to its type and the characteristics of each space show differences depending of the type of cafe. Also, most of Kidscafes used the interior design factors that met the preference of infants or children, but the analysis showed that it was needed to improve circulation, safety, sanitary conditions and atmosphere. In addition, it is also needed to set up careful plans for the space for the parents so that not only the infant or children but also the parents can enjoy some rest and leisure. For this, the survey method which can reflect the parents' opinions is needed. This study is limited to the cases at 5 places, but the analysis through more cases are needed to provide the base data through more objective spatial analysis. |
