Under the current trend that the magnitude of opera activity is getting larger and its sphere is being established in a professional system, performance facility, as a cultural space has played a role of a fundamental physical space that satisfies cultural and artistic needs. At this space, performing arts is created and brought to the stages to provide a venue of cultural exchange through direct contact with the audience. In 21st century, in particular, seats of diversified pattern are shown depending on various characteristics, being differed from the seat pattern generally appeared in the past. This study is intended to survey environment, indoor space composition and internal/external relation based on the stage and audience seats among the various elements being related with spatial structure of the performing facility in order to carry out a spacial research on the schematic features shown on contemporary opera house design. Moreover, the purpose of this study is to suggest a possibly flexible utilization method by developing a spatial composition model based on a comprehensive evaluation after deducing various design features of contemporary opera houses. |
