Today’s firms putting much value on organizational creativity regard informal communication more importantly through which employees can express their opinions freely and share various information rather than formal communication unlike before. Accordingly, present companies pay higher attention to establishing environment that can activate informal communication. This study, thus, intends to examine cases that affect the environment for creative work of a company through the factors activating such informal communication in an organization. Based on it, this paper will consider ways to activate informal communication in an office. Spatial factors that can activate informal communication in office environment can be analyzed as clarity, coincidence, centroid, activity induction, mobility, and variability. These elements function individually or collectively in a complex way and form the environment of informal communication. As a result, the transformation of physical environment of an office through those six factors plays a critical role in the organizational members’ creative activities. |
