The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of biophilic design applied to complex cultural spaces using idle spaces and to propose design directions through user recognition. To this end, the composition and design elements of the space were analyzed by selecting Mapo Oil Tank Culture Park, Nodeul Island Complex Cultural Space, and Seoul Art Book Library as examples, and the users’ biophilic design experience and preference were investigated through a survey. As a result of the study, direct connection with nature such as natural light, plants, and vision was emphasized in cases where outdoor space was included, and aesthetic elements and a sense of stability were important in cases centered on indoor space. In addition, it was confirmed that biophilic design elements combined with cultural urban regeneration contribute to improving the quality of spatial experience. Based on these results, we propose a biophilic design strategy that reflects the historical and cultural context and the necessity of applying design in consideration of indoor and outdoor space characteristics when designing a complex cultural space using idle space. |
