For the resilience of urban space after the COVID-19 pandemic, this study compares and analyzes recent cases of flexible architecture during the COVID-19 period. This will provide practical implications for future research so that a methodology for flexible buildings that respond quickly to crises can be derived. To this end, this paper identifies the current status and problems by examining the literature on the architecture related to COVID-19 and adaptive reuse, establishing an analysis frame by extracting keywords. Based on this research framework, cases of flexible structures during the COVID-19 period are analyzed. The results are as follows. In the case of flexible architectural plans, creative ideas and quickly responding devices are presented in various ways, which can be important planning data for rapid change of space in crises such as pandemics in the future. In the cases of flexible architectural practices, variable devices which can be changed according to the situation are systemized and connected flexibly and firmly. These cases recognized the existing facilities as an element of a total sum of plans to fully utilize and recreate them into organic spaces, rather than just a shell of architecture left behind, as a system capable of responding to future changes. |
