This study analyzed how contemporary folding architecture was theoretically established and what kind of expression system the architectural design and architectural system have. Folding architecture developed from the basis of the morphological meaning that begins with folding, as the independent expression of various structural elements became possible through the development of the structural system. The use of various design tools and computers in modern architecture made it more liberal in the theory of folding architecture and the method of architectural design. Derrida and Deleuze's architectural discusions, folding, folds, rhizomes, and events have transferred the theoretical basis of folding from form and space to the structure of events. The classical concepts of beauty, balance, proportion, and order have limitations that cannot be applied to atypical non-Euclidean forms.
Through this study, the manipulation of folding, cutting, tilting, crumpling, and piercing of folding is designed to transfer architectural intentions and concepts to architectural forms, spaces and programs, and to express the architect's design concepts, architectural demands, and symbols. It has been proven to be a powerful tool.
Therefore, the manipulation method of folding architecture is valuable in applying meaning and system to the free form of architectural design Through this study, the development process of folding architecture, differentiation and conception, paradigms of various aspects, manipulation and architectural application of the actual design process, and transformation of the form and space of folding architecture were analyzed. Above all, it was confirmed that folding architecture is a tool for manipulating, transforming, and controlling modern atypical forms and spaces, sensations and programs of events. |
