요약2 This study aims to analyze spatial characteristics and compositional systems such as spatial composition, layout, and accessibility of public spaces for CCRCs (Continuing Care Retirement Communities) in the state of Oregon in the United States. The research method was field analysis; six cases were selected from CCRCs registered in Oregon, and the characteristics of public spaces were analyzed through on-site visits. The results are as follows. First, the public space in elderly housing complexes was analyzed by dividing it into a general public space (G.P.S), a facility management space (F.M), a daily life supporting space, and a wellness support space. It is necessary to support the various dimensions of a common space by sufficiently considering the psychological and physical characteristics of the elderly. Second, since the daily life supporting space is the most closely connected to the lives of the elderly, accessibility to the residential space should be designed to the highest degree. Third, wellness is a very important element for personal satisfaction and abundance beyond basic support of the daily lives of the elderly. Therefore, in residential facilities for the elderly, the various dimensions of wellness support spaces should be planned by reflecting the needs of the residents. Lastly, CCRC common spaces need to be systematically arranged according to the hierarchy of accessibility to residential spaces.
