요약2 The purpose of this study is to find architectural characteristics and preservation of the Lu(樓), designated as a cultural assets in Chungcheongbuk-do. The study aims to contribute to development for the policies of the cultural heritage which are restoration, preservation and utilization of the Lu in Chungcheongbuk-do. This study was conducted to using the research methods of the existing literatures and field survey. Firstly, it is sorted out that the types of Lu in Chungcheongbuk-do to Hyang-gyo(鄕校), Gang-hak(講學) and Gwan-ah(官衙) types. The precedents of the properties of the location and placement vividly are Gahakru(駕鶴樓) and Hwasuru(花樹樓), which are Hyang-gyo and Gang-hak type, facing South on a hill overlooking the river surrounded by farmlands and mountains in the village. Secondly, the shape of the floor plan is ’ㅡ’ type and the scale are two to five Kan (間) in the front and two or three Kan(間) in the side. Except for the Hwasuru, which consists of Ondol(溫突) room and Maru(廳), all the inner spaces are composed of the Wumul-maru and open spaces with handrails on four sides. All the types excluding Gahakru on the hill are multi-roofed type considering functions. Thirdly, most of the platforms are natural stones, and some of the foundation stones are processed, but most of them are natural stones. Most of the pillars are also circular, and the handrails are both Pyeong-nangan(平欄干) and Gyeja-nangan(鷄子欄干). Most of the roofs are hipped-and-gable roofs, and the eaves are both single and double-layered. Most of the eaves are simply processed with Waguto(瓦口土). Lastly, the superstructure was composed of one Koju-five Ryang(一高主五樑) or five Ryang(五樑), and the bracket structure(?包) was used in Ikkong(翼工) style.
