The purpose of this study is to compare the differences in housing support policy needs of the elderly households and pre-elderly households. To this end, data from 2016 Korea Housing Survey was utilized by only selecting the data of 3,961,297 elderly households (Householders aged 65 and over) and 3,986,440 pre-elderly households (householders aged 53 to 61) who are called baby-boom generation. As a result, elderly households had the highest demand for long-term public rental housing, and the pre-elderly households had the highest demand for house-purchase loan. The demands for housing support policies of elderly and pre-elderly households showed different patterns according to general characteristics and housing characteristics of households and current policy use. The results of this study can be utilized as preliminary data for the development of customized housing welfare policy for the pre-elderly households in the future. |
