| 요약1 | 건축에서 기하학, 인문학, 철학, 행태학, 환경학 등의 배경을 가진 여러 이론들의 공헌이 있지만 그 이론들을 구체화하는 것은 물리적 구축이며, 따라서 물리적 요소와 건축의 구성에 대한 연구는 여전히 건축론의 중심에 놓여 있다. 그것은 주로 건축의 기본적 요소인 벽, 기둥, 바닥, 지붕 등의 구성이며, 각 요소들은 고유의 질서와 정체성을 가지고 발전해왔다. 그 중 벽은 기둥과 더불어 평면구성의 기본이며 건축형태의 바탕으로서 다른 요소가 사라지더라도 여전히 그 건물의 구성을 나타내주는 역할을 한다<그림 1>. 이처럼 건축구성에서 중심적 역할을 하는 벽은 주로 내부공간을 에워싸는 목적으로 사용되지만, 원래의 목적과는 다른 방식으로 변형되어 사용되고 있는 경우가 있으며 그 중 대표적인 것으로 가벽(假壁)을 들 수 있다. 근래 많은 건축물에서 가벽이 사용되고 있지만 무의미한 형태 만들기에 그치는 경우가 대부분이다. 이러한 것은 특히 최근 이삼십년간 하나의 ‘경향’을 이룰 정도로 가벽의 사용이 급증하여 보편적인 건축어휘로서 자리 잡았지만, 가벽을 과잉 디자인의 산물이나 형태조작으로만 취급하는 경우가 많아 그에 대한 연구가 제대로 이루어지지 않고 있는 것에서도 그 이유를 찾을 수가 있다. 본 연구는 가벽에 대한 체계적인 연구의 일환으로서, 역사적인 변천과 건축구성적 관점에서의 특성 및 구성방법을 파악함으로써, 가벽이 건축구성에서 담당하고 있는 역할을 규명하는데 목적이 있다. |
| 요약2 | This paper attempts to examine the historical changes, the characteristics and the role of free-standing wall from the viewpoint of architectural composition. After modern times the wall gets free of structure and the view of formative art changes, which become a basis of the conscious use of free-standing wall. It plays a role of getting territoriality and placeness by defining the space at the external territory and it is used as apparatus which controls circulation and orientation externally. At the same time it is used as an instrument to blur the border to make mutual intersection and plays a role of introducing and controling the environment. The free-standing wall controls the architectural form to emphasize plasticity and is used to define a geometrical frame and maintain the urban context. In view of the results so far achieved, the free-standing wall is used as general vocabulary of modulating the border of space and the architectural form since modern architecture. |
