The purpose of this paper is to compare and analyze the indoor solar heat gain according to outdoor glass type of slim double skin facade (SDSF). SDSF is a window that can reduce indoor cooling load due to solar radiation through natural ventilation of cavity layer with same principle as double skin facade. In this study, the indoor solar heat gain when the outdoor glass is clear glass (case 1), color glass (case 2), and low-e glass (case 3) is analyzed using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The CFD analysis considered radiation, convection, and conduction and analyzed them as steady state. As a result, the indoor solar heat gain was larger in order of clear glass, color glass, and low-e glass. When the color glass and low-e glass are used as the outdoor glass, the indoor solar heat gain is reduced by about 31% and 46%, respectively, compared with the clear glass. Therefore, in order to improve the cooling load reduction performance of SDSF, it is considered to be advantageous to use outdoor glass as color glass or low-e glass. |
