The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the mitigating effect of urban heat island(UHI) reduction performance of permeable blocks by quantitative assessment. The development of permeable blocks is ongoing due to temperature increase in urban regions that caused by tropical nights, heat weave, and urban heat island. These blocks can decrease the surface and ambient air temperature by evaporative latent heat function. The current study about assessing UHI reduction performance of permeable blocks is about using a thermo-graphic camera to compare the surface temperature and heat flow unit, not by assessing ambient air temperature reduction performance of blocks. The purpose of this study is to propose an assessment method of permeable blocks' UHI reduction performance, or air ambient temperature, by using a climatic chamber that can control artificial climate conditions such as temperature, humidity, rainfall, snowfall, and solar radiation. |
