요약2 UFAD(Under Floor Air Distribution) system in which the conditioned air is delivered to the zone through the supply plenum between raised floor and concrete slab is able to realize energy saving in a building through the room air stratification. In the cooling mode, zones are divided into two regions to capture stratification phenomena in EnergyPlus simulation, which are the occupied region near the floor and the non occupied region near the ceiling. Only occupied region near the floor needs to be conditioned by UFAD system. However, the thermal decay, defined as the temperature rise of conditioned air due to the heat gain in the supply plenum is able to decrease the energy saving. Therefore, in this study, the cooling load and energy of UFAD system were analyzed in an office building compared to conventional CBAD (Ceiling Based Air Distribution). and then the impact of thermal decay was analyzed. As a result, UFAD system consumed relative higher energy due to the thermal decay, despite the lower cooling load due to stratification, indicating that thermal decay needs to be resolved for the optimized performance of UFAD.
