The main purpose of shading device in office buildings is the occupant satisfaction in both thermal and visual comfort by preventing the direct solar radiation. Blinds can be roughly divided into roll type and slat type. The interior roll blind is in use at the inside of window in most office buildings. However, the major reason for the interior roll blind negatively affecting the thermal environment is the unreasonable operating situation; the blind is remained closed most of the time without being adjusted by occupants. In this study, the indoor thermal environment is analyzed after the roll blind is installed in the office building during summer season. Specially, the aim of this study is focused on the influence of thermal environment depending on different reflectances of roll blind. The blinds used in the analysis have three different reflectances of 80%, 50% and 20% with the solar transmittance fixed at 10% As a result of the analysis, using the interior roll blind had significant impacts on the PMV, mean radiant temperature, indoor air temperature and so on. The roll blind having the high reflectance can reduce the indoor temperature and can decrease the cooling energy consumption if HVAC system is actually operated during the cooling season. |
