In this study, single day PM10 concentrations were measured for a Line-type school meal service facility. PM10 concentrations generated by cooking and other student activities were measured and analyzed. The analysis results were used as an input for a simulation to examine the existing exhaust hood and Air Handling Unit (AHU) were in operation [EXT], and for other cases in which alternative measures were initiated for PM10 reduction in the kitchen and cafeteria, such as installation of an additional exhaust hood [ALT-1], cafeteria zoning [ALT-2], and installation of a waste heat recovery ventilation unit [ALT-3]. The simulation results of PM10 concentration distributions for each reduction measure were compared with the results of [EXT]. It was observed that the PM10 reduction efficiency of [ALT-1] was 1.4% in both kitchen and cafeteria, 17.8% in the kitchen and 23.9% in the cafeteria for [ALT-2], and 49.3% in the kitchen and 61.9% in the cafeteria for [ALT-3]. |
