Recently, among the new renewable energy systems relying on solar energy, a liquid-type photovoltaic thermal system developed by combining solar power and solar thermal systems is becoming widely available. This study thus developed and prototyped the curtain wall-type liquid-type photovoltaic thermal systems (CW. L-PVTs) that can be installed on the curtain wall of the building’s outer wall to efficiently mount L-PVTs in buildings with a limited construction area. To analyze the thermal and electrical performance, the study was conducted in the following way. First, the principles and characteristics of CW.L-PVTs were analyzed as proposed in previous studies. Second, detailed specifications of the manufactured CW.L-PVTs, outdoor testing equipment, and environmental conditions were explained, and parameters of the performance test were set. Third, outdoor experimental measurements were conducted depending on the weather condition and inlet water temperature according to the ISO 9806 solar thermal collector performance test methods. Fourth, the amount of energy generation according to inlet water temperature, solar insolation amount by outdoor condition, and ambient temperature were analyzed, and the electric and the thermal efficiency of CW.L-PVTs were calculated to evaluate the performance. |
