요약2 Floating floor construction, as commonly used in Korea for mitigating the floor impact sound, is known to be effective on the higher frequency bands of heavy weight floor impact sound. On the other hand, the standard heavy weight floor impact sources, Bang machine and Rubber ball, have higher impact power in the low frequency bands. These may cause a deterministic role of lower frequency bands noise to the single number rating value of heavy weight floor impact sound. In these bases, effects of specific frequency bands of heavy weight floor impact sound on the single number rating value is investigated. Analysis from 64 units in different two apartment sites shows that the 63Hz frequency band noise has overriding impact on the single number. It denotes that the current single number rating scheme may not effectively interpret the residents need for the acoustical comfort on floor impact sound
