요약2 This study aims to reduce a cooling load by natural ventilation and to improve indoor air quality on the ventilation system of an express bus. According to the experimental results of the cooling load of an express bus, the maximum cooling load per hour of 17.57 kW was occurred on Aug. 8 at 4 pm. However, the maximum ventilation rate required to reduce a cooling load, if the outdoor temperature is limited to 24℃ or less, was 3084.92 m3/h on Jul. 23 at 12 pm and the maximum required ventilation time was 50.82 times/h. To satisfy a cooling load reduction and a required amount of ventilation, the proper positions of vents were the combination of front inlet and rear outlet, and the appropriate size of a opening has been identified as a 1200 × 50 mm. The ventilation rate and the average airflow rate around seats were 2933.33 m3/h (48.32 times/h) and 0.27 m/s, respectively. As analysis results of occupants' comfort, less discomfort was shown due to no more than 1.0 m/s of indoor airflow rate.
